June 2012

Dear friends and allies,

I'm happy to announce the launch of our new research and analysis blog, The Cipher.

Will you visit our new blog and tell us what you think?

The Cipher analyzes Los Angeles policy issues and offers a fresh perspective on LA's economy and our movement's fight to shape a healthy public sector that is responsive to the needs of South LA and communities like it.

For our launch,I've reflected on the twentieth anniversary of the Civil Unrest and what it means for our movement. Our Research Coordinator, Megan Emiko Scott, writes about the battle over the City of LA's Business Tax , a critical source of funding for the services our communities depend on.

A big goal of this effort is to hear what you, our friends and allies, have to say. Will you read our posts and leave a comment?

We're looking forward to hearing from you!

Sincerely,

Gloria Walton
Executive Director, SCOPE
